  • shadowheart43: Boot up your computer several times and you should notice the difference.

  • This naturally works with everything you do with your computer, for example your browser and other frequently used software start much faster because they too are stored in the SSD partition. App starting times are more difficult to compare in a video like this, thus the booting time comparison.

  • Boot time is a good benchmark with the momentus xt because it is the easiest way to show the principal how it works. The boot time is much faster than the original HDD because all the necessary data required for the booting is stored in the SSD partition of the momentus xt.

  • The momentus is 7200rpm so naturally it makes a bit more noise than a 5400rpm. However that noise is still very quiet and you can only hear it if you put your ear on the aluminum chassis.

So the noise with the momentus xt isn't an issue.

  • My Dell Adamo 13 with SSD boots in 25 seconds! I paid $850 brand new. It is only Dual Core not i5 or i7 processor. Imagine the performance with i7...

  • My Linux partition boots to the login screen in about five seconds. And my laptop is about 7 years old.

  • @MetroidPrimefan1 "like you're supposed to"?

is this another made up Mac user rule?

a lot of people these days use laptops as desktop replacements to save space/energy

so boot times arent as relevant as actual read/write speeds in those cases

  • @chemicallust77 The Core i5 booted slower. It's in the 15".

But the 13" has the MomentusXT and is faster because of it.

  • how is this a comparrison test?,its like comparing apples to oranges...you're using two completely different architectures.

even if they both had the same hdd,the core I5 is going to boot faster

  • If u got money for macs you got money for SSD

  • In terms of battery life? How long after installing the Seagate?

  • 13" about 20 sec, but something wrong with your i5 15" about 1 minute???

my macbook unibody (not pro) 2Ghz boots up in 28 sec, mb air ssd = 15 sec always

  • about 20 sec

  • does anybody remember the commercials where apple used to make fun of intel. In one such, an apple guy used a fire extiguisher on one of those annoying dancing silver suited intel guy. Ironic how now apple is using intel chips.
