Away in a manger, no crib for his bed
The little Lord Jesus lay down his sweet head
The stars in the sky looked down where He lay
The little Lord Jesus
Asleep on the hay.
The cattle are lowing,
The poor baby wakes,
But little Lord Jesus
No crying He makes;
I love thee, Lord Jesus,
Look down from the sky

And stay by my cradle till mornight is nigh
Be near me, Lord Jesus, I ask thee to stay
Close by me forever and love me, I pray!
Bless all the dear children in thy tender care
And take us to heaven to live with thee there.

  • This is not the original melody - this is a later American version taken from another Hymn. The original melody is MUCH better - listen to the British version.!

  • Wow, I'm just feeling the Christmas love in a lot of these comments.....so sad :( Well, I hope those who are feeling "scroogy" will be blessed with a lightness of heart and will witness a miracle this season. Merry Christmas everyone!!

  • @teaspoonme me neither.. I prefer the original

  • @commanderdragos Thank you for the history lesson, not needed but thank you anyway. You`ve managed to re-enforce the point I was making.

    Wikipedia? Dear oh dear!!!

  • @maccaROK "Christmas or Christmas Day (Old English: Crīstesmæsse, literally 'Christ's mass') is an annual commemoration of the birth of Jesus Christ, celebrated generally on December 25 as a religious and cultural holiday by billions of people around the world." (Wikipedia)

So, you were saying? Imagine this: How would "Christmas" originate from "Saint Nicholas?" Christmas was originally the celebration of Christ's birth, but its original meaning was lost as time went on.

  • @Scullnblades google "video to mp3" and convert :)

  • @theCPProductions2 ...you're misguided and misinformed. Christ has nothing to do with the real "Christmas".

@MrBadocas ...say what you like. Merry Xmas to you!!!

  • Put more Christmas song Sue

  • Very Beautiful Instrumental version, I love to listen this song again and again

  • this song is good
