Google SketchUp has a Sandbox. But there are a few rules to know before you're allowed to play. In this episode, Alex creates a landscape from scratch, and shows a second way to model terrain from existing contour lines. Landscapers will love this episode!

  • I'm guessing I have to purchase Pro to get all these tools I don't recognize?

  • @naiabeau probably not. i think you just have to go to your SketchUp Preferences window and check all of the boxes in the Extensions pane. The toolbars for Sandbox, etc. should then be available to you via the View > Toolbars menu.

  • when i right click i cant drop the trees.. there is no drop.. in the choices

  • @reddmaya the drop command is a ruby script. check out The SketchUp Show #2 to learn more about where to get it and how to install it.

  • and is it possible to stamp two different foundations to the exact same elevation?

  • yes. the trick for that is to just stamp both of the terrains arbitrarily, then go back and move the flat, stamped faces and align them specifically using the move tool. top: use the up arrow tool to lock the blue axis inference while you're moving the flat, stamped faces.

  • @cgiwattgrrl99 thanks man!

  • Do you guys recommend using Apple?

My dual-core XP SP3 with graphic card isn't working out too pretty with any sandbo x function.... Any suggestion? Not at a position to upgrade to any Apple desktop or laptop yet...

  • @dancingburney Or type 'Google sketchup drop plugin' on google search! You will get plenty of options.

  • Wow those plugins are awesome... Where can I find a list of those?

  • @dancingburney

Once placed into the "Plug-ins" Folder; you will find it via a "Right-Click" after entity selection. You must first select both the trees and the terrain mesh; then the R/C for "Drop @ Intersection"

  • I tried everything to get this rubyscript (drop.rb) but it doesn't work how come?

  • THANKS A LOT!
