Well, I'd pay an extra 50 bucks for my MDC to sing the yahoo incoming mail message tone, lol. GREAT demo buddy! Love these radios.

Hey HT my 1250 has a different tone for the quick call feature... I like the simple beep beep beep beep ...how do you change them?

I have a Vertex VX-160U and I think it's pretty old but my cousin who is only 10 gave it to me I found it laying around and I always have the Mic acceserie thing but the battery is dead and the little metal part that touches the ridges on the battery has sorta of fell into the radio but I have asked my mom to get me a motorola HT100 for Christmas and I hope to get it programed with that cool sounding MDC-1200 sound and get Georgia State Patrol and as well as our County 911 added onto it

About the MDC signaling how can you program it so it chirps only at the end of a transmission

@computerdude5566 yes you can enable QCII encode in the CPS. You have to set it up in the CPS in a tone list, but only enable it on frequencies you are authorized to use!

well now i just learned that ring prior to MDC is just a call, not an actual courtesy beep....

Yup the little "call" before the MDC Data burst is actually a Repeater Access Code and in some cases people do use it in the ham community to sound cool too

it got a little annoying but it comes out different on a scanner then another rig... its cool but gets annoying.

oh I agree, it kills my ears on a scanner... thank god i only have to use it on my pre MDC channel... and only one!
