Here is important thing u left out on the set up ur network name should have number than Channel should be 06 and speed has to be 54 not higher than that if u use password protected network and WEP password should be 64bit write it down. That should help a lot users.

@xpresidentrulez Try googling the name of your router and "repeater setup". You should be able to find instructions from someone who has done this.

Can anyone tell for TP-Link router wht option is given instead of repeater.
(i want to apply same procedure in TP-Link)

IE? you kidding me??
-
can i use a netgear router to extend my wifi. (i have a qwest :Q1000: router)
-
Thank you very much !

@TechFreak51 If you can access the signal and the network, you can boost the signal. You will run into issues with setting it up though if you can't control the network or identify it's IP and Mac Addresses.

Thanks for the Video ... Can I use my repeater to repeat some other network that I have no control on?
-
@KOYORKIE Thanks for the feedback. There may be some other things you need to do depending on the type of router and repeater. Try googling your exact setup to see if others have put out steps for changing the channel settings.

Great video very professional and helpfull, however for me after saving the settings and going to the wireless repeater and try to add the mac number, it gives me an error saying i cant use that feature because my channel settings need to be changed..."?" so im lost n feeling very frustrated.

@dadaymc If your signal reaches it, then sure.

Can you use the second router as a repeater if its on two different floors?
-
@unknownguy235 I'm not sure what the cost right now. This video is a few years old.
-
how much does that cost? and is it the same as the "universal wifi range extender wn3000rp" ?
-
@mytubenowhahaha Yes, as long as you remember any settings you change so you can change them back if you need to.

Yes, great video. I have an old Sky wireless router in the shed that I could use as a repeater. My base router would be a Netgear Rangemax. If I try the Sky one and it doesn't work because it's from a different manufacturer, can I reverse the process back without causing any problems with the existing router?
Hi, when I set the my base station cannot be the same as the router's mac address. What do I do?

@ALTxPAIDx I'm not sure what you are asking. Are you saying you only have one mac address for both the router and the repeater?

@howto4u I have 2 mac address's for my router and repeater. Do I use my 2nd mac address instead of my 1st when asking for the base station mac address?
ALTxPAIDx 1 week ago
@ALTxPAIDx Does both your repeater and router have 2 Mac addresses? I just checked mine and they both only have one. You should only need to have one unique Mac address for the router, and then a unique address for the repeater. You may want to try one then the other to see if only one works.

@howto4u hey many thanks. I just got one question. do I need to use two the same routers? (my Main Base is Netgear DGND3300 N300 Wireless Dual Band ADSL2+ Modem Router and as my wirless extender I have Netgear DG834G) will it work to have two different routers/modems or it needs to be exacly the sames?
Many Thanks again.

@xXxWolfer92xXx From my experience, you run into fewer issues using the same, but I've seen it work with different routers as well.
