Animated Slideshow of Nasa and Astronomy Photos showing the amazing details of our neighboring planet.
Thank You artists: Gustav Holst (Composer), Charles Dutoit (Conductor), Montréal Symphony Orchestra (Orchestra)
I've listened to this Suite of Movements thousands of times since i was 16 . . . it's a part of me. I hope you enjoy it half as much. I think it's the best recording so far.

  • Are you sure its Vienna? Sounds like Montreal and Dutoit to me.

  • @theothercanadian - Wow, i can't believe i did that . . . recently updated the description and grabbed the info from a different copy in iTunes (not nearly as good of a performance). You are correct, sir! Thanks for pointing it out.

  • Today is Jan26, 2012 . . . 12:30pm. Mars is the brightest red i've ever seen. Is war upon us? Check with the oracles!

  • @quakeru Yeah, I do.

  • @hotelmario510 lol you deserve way more thumbs up

  • @classicnorthwest Yes, I meant the TV theme was an homage. And the more I think about it, the more I think it was intentional. Not only because of the obvious Mars/War of the Worlds connection, but also because the theme from the series long sounded fitting for a show that was (in its first season) about warfare. If they adapted elements from the Holst piece to utilise as a militaristic motif in the series, then it seems all the more appropriate.

  • @multitudeofidols If you meant the TV music was an homage to this work, then disregard my earlier comment, and you may very well be correct.

  • @multitudeofidols This is a famous "classical" piece, and I would't be surprised to find out it influenced music for a TV series. The music, however, is not an homage to any TV theme, as it was written between 1914 and 1916, by Gustav Holst.
