This video shows how easy it is to remove the "faded" look that happens with all Jeep wheel flares and fenders. (Over time, they turn from black to grayish in colour.) I was amazed at how easy this was. I tried the propane torch trick too, but found the heat gun way safer, and was more forgiving - the torch can seriously melt the plastic if you're not careful.

Tips not in the video: If you do this, you need a steady hand. Keep the gun moving (I used a MasterCraft Heat Gun)and about 1 inch from the wheel flare. Do not touch the plastic until it has cooled. It's not perfect like new ones, but it will be 100X better...that's it!

Note: Try this at your own risk - I make no guarantees that you'll be as satisfied. :)

  • how long does it stand? I've read some people clamming that it turns green after while.

  • Does it retain its texture?

  • Well i'll be damned! i can't believe that works! I'll have to try that!

  • HOW LONG DOES IT STAY FOR

  • @andrew0901280 no idea. my tj was bought in texas and lived there and then florida for years without chaulking. it was canada with the winter snow/salt/ carwashes that faded the colour. i honestly dont think there is any real way to fix this problem

  • @aeropostalbaby1 hmmmmmm i wonder if that black magic shit would work the stuff you have to scrub in and its supposed to last like a month and repel everthing

  • @andrew0901280 tried tires shine about a week ago. its gorgeous and lasts a while too. about a full week. but it gets reallllllly gross near the end. everything sticks to it. shit from trees, dirt, etc. wd40 at least creates a kindof shield.

  • @aeropostalbaby1 ya i ve been doin some poakin around today online about it. i guess another thing you can try is tire shine because most of them are water resistant and last a while. but you have to be carful wich kind you use because some of them can eat the plastic so im alittle hesitant on doing that

  • @andrew0901280 for long term i dont think theres much you can do unfortunately. i know that bushwacker flares dont chaulk ever. but with wd40 its good for about as long as its dry. once it rains or you go to a car wash, it will be faded again by the time it's dry. not a bad idea to spray some on a rag and wipe your flares down once a week though.

  • @aeropostalbaby1 but does the wd40 last because ive heard that heating them doesnt last very long and im looking for somthing long term
