In his continuing weekly series, Anglican / Episcopal priest-blogger, Matthew Moretz, at St. Paul's Episcopal Church (which is also Anglican) in Yonkers presents a rather Episcopal way to pray that anyone can use: the Daily Office. It may be intimidating at first, or perhaps too Anglican, but don't worry. There's no pressure, really. Try it! You don't have to be Anglican to pray like an Anglican.

  • Nothing can separate us from the love of God however. I'm curious what area of Paul's work is cited for this justification?

  • @sekenney88 Paul's writings about how we are divided by quarrels but that this isn't really the truth about us: 1 Cor. 1: 13 and thereabouts. As for me, I work toward visible unity among all Christians.

  • "catholic and reformed" yes but not Catholic and not without the "reformed" or Protestant piece

  • @sekenney88 Yes, you are right. But we are Catholic in the sense of part of the whole church. We are also part of the Reformation. Our way of putting it is that there are Roman Catholics, Anglican Catholics, Old Catholics, etc. But all are part of the whole Catholic Church. I take seriously the Pauline idea that Christ's body cannot be divided. And that you can't really be Christian without being Catholic (considering yourself part of a whole, rather than your OWN church that you started).

  • Actually the divine office is very catholic as are almost all things "Anglican" outside of the book of common prayer

  • @sekenney88 The Episcopal Church is Catholic too.

  • Ecumenism is to be applauded and I enjoy your videos as well as your tolerance of spirited debate.

  • be simultaneously Catholic & Protestant

  • I suppose that's where Roman Catholics and Anglicans have to agree to disagree as we would say you are indeed Christians who are little c catholic but not Catholic as you are theologically at odds on several points of doctrine that the Catholic Church upholds and has always upheld Transubstantiation for example. You are certainly familiar with the early church's practice still used today of repentance penance and then readmission into communion with the church. We reject the notion that one can

  • In what sense Father?
