The video chronicles the development of the swell shark within the egg. From the rescue of the embryo washed ashore to the glorious hatch.
This pacific swell shark was discovered washed ashore on a beach in Southern California. The egg was in perfect condition; it didn't have any air bubbles or algae inside the purse. It was put into an old 5 gallon tank and the water changed about once a week. Great care was taken in handling the egg and eventually we were rewarded with a hatch.
The shark will be released after about a week, once it is determined that the shark can hunt and fend for itself. We won't be handling the shark now that it has hatched.
