Hmm, correct, but the question about being muslims and the existence of wine in persian miniatures is because of the way persian used to live, it goes back to the time before the islam, the oldest wine cup which was found in Iran is from more than 6000 years ago, read wikipedia, wine comes from Iran, wine is a part of Persian Culture, just for the reason that islam fucked up a lot of our culture, doesn't mean that we should forget it.

God, sometimes I become really amazed by the way how deeply and knowingly Khayyam could express humans nature in his verses... It is really amazing...

Its normal in all middle ages Islamic history to see a wine shops in the down town of famous islamic civilization cities such as Baghdad, Shiraz, Damascus, Andalucia, Cairo, Tabriz etc it was the business of ahle ketab (kalimi va masihi) and they were protected by islamic laws.
Today, the current laws is abusing religion in WRONG way, and ignorant people are blaming religion instead of blaming people.
Had there been no religion, still people will create an enemy and blame it.

This is a very lame explanation. The wine has been present in all cultures, even Arabs who were super consumers of grapes+dates wines, and its ALSO part of their culture, likewise indians and Turks. Religion is for those who want to not consume it, but for thoe who want to consume they're free to do so (AS PER RELIGION, atleast Sunni version like Middle ages Iran),, but its needless to attack religion if the current regime in iran is abusing islam in their own dictator way. DOROOD!

Iran was invented in Iran and has always been consumed. In the times of the Shah, Bars were sometimes across the mosques.

@DRAGOVODA Iranians were not allways muslims... But yea in Umar Khayyoms times they were but.... what Umar used to say in his rubayats is - If wine and virgins are lawful to have in heaven, it probably lawfull here too and why not make shure to have heaven here, why to wait? thats why he called himself not a saint and not quite a sinner. he held Koraan in his right hand and cup of wine in left.

@DRAGOVODA wine is a persian invention.

wtf!?
He's not a Kurd & his poems are in Persian language. You can have your own poets. not necessary that make a lie! Don't try to ignore the truth.

Because may be They are not really Muslims! :))
Iranian culture was totally different from the Arabian ppl who became Muslims and after that made Iranians to give up to Islam. u know, It was because of the wars between Iran & Arabs that Iranian had to give up to Islam.
Even during Islamic era the Iranian culture was still alive & prominent.

Though, we are drunk, we are more aware than you
You drink the blood of men and we drink the blood of grapes(wine)
Be honest, who is more blood-thirsty?!

A great question. In Iranian art, including miniature, wine is often presented. Some times in a symbolic sense, and some times in a literal sense. This all depends on the artist, whether stand alone, or when attached to a poem. However, symbolism is one of the most beautiful aspects of Iranian art.
