Dimarzio Steve morse model in the bridge with a Dimarzio PAF pro in the neck and a mystery humbucker in the middle (i think it is a vintage seymour because i pulled it out of an old jackson). I forgot to mention i am using 250K pots for both the volume and the tone. The guitar was run stright into a mesa boogie mark 3 and carvin legacy cab, no effects and no reverb.

Oh I am dumbass, I said the body of this guitar was basswood in the EMG video it is not, it is poplar. The neck is maple and the fretboard is blood wood.

  • You need 500k pots...

  • @BrasilGuitar

why do you say that? 250k pots are used in most strats, and as tone pots in some guitars. You can also use them to help tame humbuckers with a lot of highs, or if they have a shrill high end. The lower the vaule of the pot the less high end makes it into the signal. A 1 meg pot can be used with a darker pickup in order to let all the higher end make it into the signal and give the pickup a more wide open feel. Either way Steve Morse uses 250k pots in both of his sig models.

  • I think you need an Award for the Week, for the first triple humbucker Ibanez that I've seen, why should Ace have all the fun ?

The pickups make a huge difference in tone. I'm wondering which ones to put in my RG1570 ? The stock V7,V8 are really well balanced on volume levels and have a good range on the volume pot, so I think I'll have to replace the bridge and neck together. Plan B is to buy a Kramer to go crazy on the mods with hot pickups and sustainers and keep the Ibanez stock.

  • That is a sick pickup combo. Just wondering, but do you have much trouble when you are flicking toggle switches say in a gig setting???

  • sounds a little compressed? I dont know since the sound was captured from the cam mic. Compressed as in... like.. How can I say this... As if your Bridge P'up were in a bottle? I dunno. Is it really a bit compressed, in that manner.

  • @jarledge That may have a brighter tonewood basswood, but still those pickups sound a little dull and muddy.

  • How would you rate the Steve Morse bridge pickup for metal? Its specs are a lot like the evolution, but unlike the evo it isn't well known as a metal pickup.

  • @jarledge Plus, larry Dimarzio himself prefers 250 k pots. You'll find him saying that in the comment in the video with Larry D and Paul Gilbert interview.

  • m'yes u are right sir he used it on his vid intense rock 2! nice 3 humbucker pink ibanez lol

  • Sorry If I sound like a smart ass, but Paul Gilbert actually had a signature model with three humbuckers back in his Mr. Big days. It had three PAF Pros.
