@caching60098 Correct, the Stang was a GT 390. But compare the two soundtracks for yourself between these scenes in McQ and the Mustang/Charger chase in Bullitt. You'll hear *some* of the same sfx used in both. It's not unusual to edit in additional sfx during post-production to liven up a chase scene, and instead of re-recording sfx each time, they'll pull them from a library (in this case, Warner Bros.). That's all I'm contending here.

@NorthRiverTV Where did you get your facts from?!?!? Bullit's Stang had a 390 in it. The Charger had a 440....

what kinda motor is under the hood, it kinda sounded like the general lee in one scene?

He drives a rare "Brewster Green" 1973 Pontiac Trans Am. He calles it "The Green Hornet".

I love how you used this clip to take us on a tour of Seattle! Very clever. On a side note, call me old school, but John Wayne without a cowboy hat always seemed a bit wrong somehow. :)

The thing that gets me about this movie is it uses many of the same exact sound effects as Bullitt. Yes folks, sad to say it, but many of the engine sfx are that of a '68 Mustang's 428. Sounds totally different (and dare i say better) than the Pontiac 455. Compare for yourselves.... Cheap Hollywood movie using off-the-shelf sound effects. I guess having John Wayne starring in it sucked up most of the production budget. lol

this needs to be out on dvd.

Didn't like McQ, John only did this in hindsight when Dirty Harry did so well and he turned the role down. Should've been the Waco Kid in Blazing Saddles too.

The Duke is a fucking Madman!

Family has been here since the early 1900's- fun to look at this footage and know all the areas JW is blasting through; heck I have the tags from my grandfather's old F150 on my '72 F250 with the West Seattle Ford license plate frames. Man things have really changed even since the 1990's around here!
Something just occurred to me...John Wayne is pedal to metal with a black Trans Am in a 1974 movie! This predates Burt Reynolds use of the car by 2-3 years!

Nice to see plenty of Detroit Iron around in the days when American cars were the biggest and the best.
