Great item! :D I use this everyday and it's been so handy for me! :D I'm glad it's a touch screen though because somehow two of the buttons on the side no longer work, but that doesn't really matter. :-)

guys when i plug my archos 605 into my computer it doesn't even do anything when i go into usb mode. My computer will just say your hardware is ready to use. and thats all it will say and nothing else will happen. i want to transfer files(videos) from my archos to my computer. Can someone help

3) Hopefully the inbuilt repair option will be of help to you. You can also use Windows scandisk to check & fix errors in PC Hard Drive mode.

If you have the 4GB Flash drive version with SD card expansion slot, remember to SAVE all files and re-format the card too.

4) I SHOULD HAVE WRITTEN THIS FIRST!

MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE LATEST FIRMWARE FOR YOUR EXACT MODEL ON YOUR UNIT FROM THE ARCHOS WEBSITE.

2) Go to: MENU > SETTINGS > SYSTEM > REPAIR & FORMATTING TOOLS.

Start with the first option and return and try all subsequent options IF the preceeding one does not fix the reseting problem.

Sadly, you may have just got a inferior unit as Archos quality control is substandard for the amount they cost.

Ask somebody in Electroncs retail how often they are returned for faults and you will know why there are so MANY refurbished products on eBay.

I have owned over 10 different Archos models over the years.

The Generation 4 (404, 504, 604) were the most reliable in my experience.

The later generations have more problems because of their (lousy) Wi-Fi ability.

I have seldom had ANY reset themselves as you described whlst playing AUDIO files though certain VIDEOs have caused the reset problem you mentioned.

1) Firstly, BACK-UP the entire 605 contents on your PC in Hard Disk mode.
