How Smart is Smart?

Intelligence to me is wisdom. As you mentioned, it doesn't matter how clever you are, it doesn't matter what we can do, the person who understands whether or not we SHOULD do it is above everything.
For example, humans are smart enough to create an atomic bomb, but stupid enough to use it.
Clever and wise are two things that are amazingly far away from each other. Clever is making the gun, wisdom is not using it.

Then I suppose to better refine the statement, Clever is making the gun, wisdom is knowing whether or not to use it.
This refinement includes the possibility of using a gun if the circumstance is appropriate. For example, you chose to shoot a guy who is trying to kill you, but you choose not to shoot a guy who is stealing your VCR because taking a human life isn't worth it. That is an example of wisdom.

I thought that I was pretty smart until I discovered how to solve problems in my dreams. My brother, who is schizophrenic, always told me that everyone has the ability to adopt spirits that will help you with anything you ask them for as long as your intentions come from your heart(you actually have to believe in them too). I've been an atheist all my life but a few weeks ago I humbled myself enough to actually try it, and it worked. H/E i did have to lose my mind and pretend that I was "sane".

many of the systems that are in place are there to appease the public, to make it appear that the government and the corporate elite "care" and are trying to help us, essentially blinding us from the fact that we are being robbed of our labor and basic liberties as human beings. I think that in many cases they are so complicated to deter the bulk of society from looking into them in detail and seeing how things really work.

the downward spiral that is capitalism, if not humanity

"Intelligence" doesn't come down to if you can "outsmart" the other person (technological, or otherwise); how smart a person is comes down to how hard you work. For example: I wasn't the smartest in high school, BUT I did take AP classes, and worked harder than anyone else in the class (even if I received a "below average" grade) My teachers always commended me for how hard I worked, and always remarked how intelligent I was (although I never received an A).

dude i get you i agree with you on every thing you said

@gungnir2357 I work with Radiation Physicists and they're easily pulling in over 6 figures. I think they knew exactly what occupation they were going into. Also, you can't base a person's intelligence by what field they go into and how much it makes simply b/c some people don't have making money a priority. Some people go into fields they're passionate about regardless of pay. That doesn't make them any less intelligent.
Thanks for the video. I hope I embody some of these things, I've spent a lot of time thinking about how you replied to me about your AIDs position and reconsidering what I thought I knew - NOT saying I agree but I'm more aware that I unquestioningly accepted some things without adequate analysis. I'm enjoying more of your videos - cheers!

You know what I probably sounded like I was actively disagreeing with your position on AIDs, what I meant was I now just accept I'm totally ignorant on the matter :)

If your not into innovation, then go work for the Government.

@nikolayzou I didn't say I'm not into innovation -- I said that I'm not into WANTON innovation. And particularly not wanton innovation that disrupts or, worse yet, REPLACES what already worked or, worse yet, replaces what already worked BETTER.
Functionality before fetish.
