  • This is an attempt to co-opt strong public mobilization in defense of public education by shifting attention to narrowly begging favors of the governor. The root of the problem is anti-tax politicians allied with corporate UC regents and top UC executives.

You are not looking seriously enough at every possible option. More attention needs to be paid to excessive salaries for top administrators, at leveraging reserves, & at more explicit support for legislation to raise state revenue.

  • Such a hypocrite. I think he, in the position he is in, has more leeway and ability to talk to the governator than any of us students do. If the regents were elected democratically, we wouldn't have this crisis of priorities. Because we would choose people who put education on top of anything else.

  • this video is BS. Why am I listening to him? Shouldn't he be listening to us (UC students, staff, alumni & faculty)?

  • High level management pay freezes or all this UCOP trying to help us stuff is BS.

  • Public advocacy is important, but why is UC suspending its student center in Sacramento?

  • Why did UC Regent Zettel donate thousands of dollars to the Lincoln Club efforts to reduce state taxes?

Why is UC Regent Blum personally one of the biggest investors in the fraud-ridden for-profit universities of Career Education Corporation and ITT Educational Services?

  • It is misleading to say the UC administration is mitigating fee hikes by providing financial aid for low-income students.

Fees have been rising even during good CA budget years, as part of a deliberate effort to shift the University towards greater reliance on private donations and student fees.

Why dont Yudof and the Regents promise fee hikes and layoffs will be reversed when the budget improves?
