Had to post Tanner's debut; didn't want to feel left out. Somehow, most of the scare has gone out of it, because it is so ubiquitous. Do I need to tell you it was taken from Star Night At The Cocoanut Grove (1934)? I didn't think so.

  • Coconut grove is correct

  • @jetbluedelta98 No it's not, per the title-card of this film and the name of the former night-club. Coconut is the correct spelling of the seed, and of the Miami neighborhood.

  • He looks pissed

  • I heard that Tanner was trained by Mel Koontz, who also trained Jackie. As far as I can tell, Tanner was probably more aggressive than Jackie; therefore, his roars may scare more viewers than Jackie's roars. (To tell you the truth, I am not afraid of any of the MGM lions. And that's because lions are one of my favorite animals!)

  • Nice kitty.

  • Hey, KC. Have you recorded this from Fitzpatrick shorts of 1935-36?

  • He imitates a bomb or a kitty's growl or a lion's roar. HE SHOULD'VE BEEN NUTS!!!! Big Bing Bang BOOM!, clap clap clap clap...Oh well.
