  • I thought sukui nage was that other technique in which you position yourself behind the uke, knees bent, and then you lift his legs up, so that he falls behind yours.

  • ...(aka teguruma) depends how loyal you are to Kodokan conventions

  • Illegal technique

  • OK... make sure you don't use in any situation

  • I was just taught this as a defensive throw from things like harai goshi - this is a really nice 'attacking' version. Thanks for showing us so clearly and includig variations.

  • @argenteum It's a great counter to Harai Goshi, Uchi mata, and Osoto Gari.

  • This has nothing to do with Sukui-Nage

  • Fuck rules!!!

  • I heard the rules were changed to prevent people grabbing at the legs at the start of a match. Of course a better course of action in my opinion would be to promote the knowledge of how to counter leg grabs.

  • You can use this as an attack if your opponent has a cross grip or if this is the second technique in a combination. This convention applies to all Te-Guruma to the best of my knowledge.

  • @NickKano11 knowing this in mma is crucial in some moments. i cant believe this cant be used...

    that rule is really funny.

  • @ookami3380 Because of stupid rules introduced a while ago...

  • @tenbinnage I isn't 'illegal'. You just can't attack with this technique. If you use it as a counter it's still legal and useful.

  • because you can't grab his leg anymore, except if it is in the air.

  • why is it illegal?
