What luck, I managed to find an 18" primary telescope mirror, so I set it up to do some more experiements.

Schlieren photography makes air curents visible. In this video I light a butane lighter and hold my hand over it. At the beginning you can see the butane gas coming out before the spark ignites it. At the end I blow it out.

This is my first attempt.. I really need to build some proper hardware for adjusting things, right now it's all boxes and booklets and tape and gets out of whack if I sneeze, let alone if one of my cats rubs against it.

  • holy shnock that shiz was epic!!!!

  • Oooh I so with the internet was made up of more experiments.

  • looks like when you blow oxygen under water... life on land isn't very different from under water...

  • Never knew you could do this kind of thing with telescope mirrors. I have a 6'' mirror from a junk telescope which would otherwise be useless, maybe I could try it myself.

    I know someone with a 20'' telescope, but I don't think they'd let me o.o.

  • GOOD GOOD GOOD
