I have to say it:

Squall>Cloud in EVERY way

I still don't think so sorry. Cloud has a huge buster sword and almost killed Sephiroth before he was treated with mako=insanely strong (and mind you this was after being stabbed) and then he had mako treatment=super insanely strong and he defeats Sephiroth (the ulitmate weapon) 2X! Therefore Cloud>Squall

True, but they're from different universes, so it's kinda irrelevant. If they were playable, Omega/Ultima weapon from FF8 would destroy Sephiroth, as would Squall. It's more of a matter of opinion, but I think that Squall is a generally more well-rounded and likeable character than Cloud, and if FF8 had come out first, Cloud would be much less highly-rated.

@videogamenostalgia I don't know Omnislash V6 is pretty damn awesome... but I've never played FF8. I just like Cloud's character a lot. We're both biased I guess so that's ok...we like what and who we like
