  • The HD555 and HD595 use the EXACT same drivers and resonators... if you don't believe me search google for "Sennheiser HD 555 to HD 595 Mod"

  • Have you opened up a set of 595's to prove that this is in fact a mod to upgrade the 555 to the 595?

  • Thanks. For me the one only down side to the HD555 was there wee bit weak bass, this seems to have fixed this..... :-)

  • i ripped my pads -_-

  • @derbigpr500 ya I thought about it for a while and I did realize that there isn't any reason for not putting it there... I did realize when you think about it there would be a lot harsher of a high frequecy noise because that foam helped from protecting where it would get to harsh like that so I didn't do it, but thanks :)

  • @derbigpr500 So, no , you don't get the 595 sound by simply removing the foam from 555. You only change the sound of 555 (for the worse). There's a reason why 595's are more expensive, and reasons go a bit deeper than average Joe who has no knowledge in Acoustics can understand.

  • @HenrytheBrit "The different models of cars by porche for the most part, only differ in weight. " Thats the dumbest thing I've read today, no offense.

  • @tuskenc Exactly the same on paper, not on measuring tables.

  • @flatspinach Thats exactly why foam is there. 555/595 drivers go trough identical production process. After they're produced, they get measured. Those drivers that perform better and have no faults or peaks, or unwanted imperfections in frequency range are put into 595. Those that aren't performing perfectly and their measurements aren't as good, are put into 555. Then the faults in frequency response of the driver are artificially masked by damping foam and different grill.

  • @98761joey Yes, but you'll ruin the sound by making it boomy and uncontrolled. Same as with HD555 to HD595 mod. You won't get the sound of higher model by removing the foam. They have identical drivers, but those in HD555/558 dont perform as well as those in HD595/598, and arent that well matched together, and the foam is added just to mask the "faults" in frequency response. Also, inside construction and grill are different and made of different materials.

  • I just got a new headphone after this tut! The bass is much better I think! Thanks Man!;)
