I shot this video of an attempted ascent of an obscure couloir on the south side of Otis Peak in Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado, USA. After we got hit by an avalanche we pulled the plug on the climb and headed home. May 6, 2007.

i was xaught in an avalanch on marmot basin mt. but i rode it out i was snowboarding(i was 13 when it happened) i am now 14 ad still havent tried marmot basin again:( it was scary as shtt

Here's what I see in this video that are red flags: A plan that involves climbing a very sun exposed, south facing snow couloir!! Hello? Solar convection? All you is a bad layer of near surface facets for that heat snow on top to have a perfect sliding layer. And it appears a late start with relatively clear, sunny. skies.

@bigwallmaster take it easy man at least theyre not the stupid tourists from california and illinois who just willy-nilly try and climb longs peak accidents happen and no avalanche course automatically saves your life no matter how much you hope it will
