Yes, it has a single monoaural speaker. Jobs defined it "for casual listening", so I can imagine the quality is not as high as external amplified speakers. I think also that putting a protection on the iPod voids the efficiency of the speaker

dear people, can you put a screen protector on the back of the ipod touch and will it protect it from the scratches you get from the incase slider case?
