Very true. It's obvious that things would have gotten far worse for Selina if she had not met Gordon (it was him who helped her, not Mark). Toward the end of the film, we see that Rose Ann and Sadie would have made Selina do the chores in the new home they were going to move into. Gordon learned about Selina's current living situation and he rescued her from it. Thanks to Gordon, Selina's life was going to get a lot better over time.

Incredible how the woman helping her accross the street could dump her so immediately and without a word ......a great film that shows the most inhuman behaviour and the greatest humanity . thankyou

I dont understand why they want her to be so unhappy.
This is one of the most touching films I have ever seen,only being constantly protected by my parents as a child,it should never be so difficult to be loved by anyone..........having your loved ones be more loving and understanding.
