Even that doesn't do you any good if it's night and you don't see the tornado. I found that out last year when I accidentally recorded a tornado that wasn't detected by radar outside of New Hampton.

I still love watching this video. Your footage from the opposite side is so much better than mine. I'm jealous.

The last couple springs in North Carolina we have had bad hail storms and tornadoes. Dime to golf ball-sized. I got stuck at a Wendys when one hit and that sound is pretty nerve rattling. I wasn't so much scared. I was amazed to be out when it happened. But I was cringing at the sound of those things crashing into my poor lincoln :/

Great video. Once you hear that thumping sound from the hail you never forget it.

Wow, glad to see someone else got footage of this! I thought I was the only one.
Want to see this from the opposite side from a few miles away in Charles City? I posted my video as a response to this. NWS bulletin located in "more info".
Tis the season, safe hunting!

Every thud of hail on your vehicle makes me cringe - dollar signs - how much damage on your car? *ow* How big was the hail?

Hi, sorry about that, I should have let the tape play a bit longer. The beeps you hear are my fire pager going off. Not only are we alerted for fire or medical calls, but we also get paged out for storm spotting when severe storms enter the area, except I take it a step farther and do more of a chasing aspect then I do spotting. But I'm to used to stopping what I'm doing and heading out the door as soon as the pager goes off. Thanks for viewing

U are way too close to that muthafukka tho. u needed to be a couple more miles away.

Heheheh, Never too close.. However, you do need to study storms along with taking a spotter training class offered by the NWS so you can stay safe while spotting (or chasing).

Steve, i would love to see this video unedited. if you have footage from the time the pager goes off

Hi n0yujstormspotter.. To be honest you are seeing the unedited version.. The only thing I added was the titles to the beginning and end. Everything else was when I turned the camera off and on. I wasn't able to have it on a tripod like I normally do, due to the fact I had no idea this storm was going to happen.. If you'd like, I can send you a slightly different video with both radar and day 1 covective outlook for that particular day...
