Building the Stiltwalker costumes

These are still underconstruction. I have 4 more days left, no problem!
These are inspired from the fabulous "4 Legged Stilt Costumes - Handmade" on Youtube by Garen and Melissa - great video. I've probably watched this one 20 times. Also "How to Build and Walk on Stilts" by CricketboyStudios helped me with the stilt construction. There are some great Youtube tutorials on how to build a foam mask using a balaclava as a base. I used Foam Factory (foambymail.com) and tall adult forearm crutches (make sure you know if they come in pairs or single.)
I train horses for a living...but get the creative urge when October rolls around. There's a number on my back in one clip because I didn't change clothes entirely after competing in a dressage schooling show that morning.

This is pretty cool! I like it. Also do you know what those costumes that make you look taller than you really are, are called?

thanks! I am calling them stilt walkers.  Sometimes when I make big costumes that are bigger than me I call them giant puppets.

When you said you used crutches, did you mean crutches like the type of ones that you would get from a hospital if you broke your leg or something?

thank you for listing us as your inspiration! we are honored. this is totally awesome! congrats on the awesome costume. it turned out fantastic. i can't wait to see it finished! be careful... you'll get addicted to them. we get ours out all year long just to see peoples reactions, ha ha!
