Canola is a modified RAPESEED PLANT which is toxic and used as an insecticide. It has been bred in Canada in the 1970s (no gene splicing then, my friend) And while some varieties ARE genetically modified, others are not as they are hybrids (the same as apples).

@starked1 Get the scientific studies done on it and you will find it is toxic and can cause heart disease and also is used as an insecticide Wikipedia is a load of horse crap. Also Apples aren't genetically modified they are hybridized, there is a difference.
-
@probesoul. Canola oil is not toxic. As to Canola being genetically modified - it is as genetically modified from Rapeseed plants as eating apples are genetically modified from the ancestor crab apple. Try reading a few things - even look up canola and rapeseed on Wikipedia.

@randeddy not sure about stove fuel, but it's high in protein and so is probably more valuable as a stockfeed.

"By nature, these rapeseed oils (canola), which have long been used to produce oils for industrial purposes, are... toxic to humans and other animals" Also most canola is genetically modified. So DON'T eat it... and read every food label.. For example many varieties of nuts or mixed nuts are cooked in canola eliminating all their health benefits. The government and industry know canola is toxic that's why it's cheap and plentiful... sick people are BIG business
