  • Pretty good post.

  • I cannot stop watching!

  • @music2012 Well in the case of the snake, the organs which detect the infrared light are not eyes. Also, this is done to detect heat, or the proximity of other creatures. Like a shark can sense electric fields of all living things with their snout, but the quality of their overall vision is very poor. So, if humans needed to develop infrared vision, then it would be a down grade, don't you think? Personally, I want the eyes of an eagle. THAT would be a kick ass upgrade.

  • @captainjack77 There is no need right now, we have no idea what we will have to adapt to in the future. At one time there was no need for anything to have eyes. BTW bees can see ultraviolet and snakes can see infrared, a few species of bats can also.

  • @music2012 Evolution is brought about by necessity. There is no need to see such light, therefore, no it will never happen.

  • I wonder with evolution if in a few thousand years our eyes can evolve to see infrared or ultraviolet light?

  • Great work. Mr. Owens. I've embedded your video in a PPT I use with my 8th graders. I especially like your explanation of how different elements can emit light at different frequencies. This is a concept I've often had trouble explaining!

  • This video can act as a base for student who really want to be an educated......

  • Thats really cool stuff. Those specific colors going on with the atoms have some useful data with the color number systems I've been putting together.

  • Do they emit only certain frequencies of light because the energy is quantised?
