Ever since its establishment in 1924 Adidas has been the most innovative and groundbreaking sportswear manufacturer. Their entry into the football industry came in 1950, when founder Adi Dassler produced the legendary Samba, the first football boots with a moulded, multi-studded rubber soleplate. In 1956, Adidas pioneered the use of nylon soles for sports footwear. The result: a revolutionary polyamide sole for football boots. For the 1962 World Cup, Adidas designed the Chile 62, a football boot with ankle padding, a rear shoe tab and side lace holders. At the 1974 FIFA World Cup Adidas introduced kangaroo leather and a moulded-stud outsole. Finally, in 1977 Adidas developed the first football boot with a sole made from two different densities. Original Adidas models from these decades are now extraordinarily difficult to find. The attention to detail, exceptional manufacturing quality and avant-garde design is far superior than the mass manufactured models available on today's retail market. As a result the demand for vintage Adidas football boots from the 1970's and 1980's remains very high from both collectors and players.
