@Kankannan You are absolutely right. Kyûzô is his name. I got them mixed up, Yohei (not Yobei) was one of the peasants. The Seven Samurajs is on the top of my list "Best movies ever". And the duel between Kyûzô and the other swordsman is probably the best Katana scene ever shot. The absence of color enhances the impression, in my opinion. Zatoichi and Azumi are not bad either:-)

@knyppeldyna its Kyuzo

The name of the master swordsman is Yobei, if my memory is correct.
His attitude towards life, death and how to live a decent life has always been an example for me. Know yourself, be humble and demand more from yourself than from others.

Can anyone tell me what the two characters in this scene are called or the actors?

Ok you got the kill shot. But what the scene is really trying to show is that pride kills. Then they first square off with Bamboo swords the lesser samurai cannot accept defeat, even in a simple practise. If he had he might have learned from the greater swordsman. Alas, he is dead, and it was his pride that killed him. The greater samurai simply obliged.

FATALITY! FLAWLESS VICTORY!
You destroyed the whole reason of that scene.
