Even if Landis had won his appeal, there was no guarantee Tour de France organizers would recognize today's decision. Drugs and sports will be forever intertwined so whats the big deal. It took the death of Tom Simpson to bring it out into the open, and ever since its been a cat and mouse game with new elusive drugs and improved testing. I don't think cycling will ever be 'clean', just the benefits from whatever doping is undetected won't be significant to the outcome of the event.
