About a month after the taped meeting with Murtha, the co-conspirator, lawyer Howard L. Criden, wrote in his affidavit: "Yesterday, Feb. 1, (Democrat Congressman Frank 'Topper') Thompson called and told me that Murtha was ready to go," adding that Murtha had indicated "during January that he was not ready to do business but would be willing to do so in the future."

Actually, he was not acquitted of anything, as he was never charged with anything. The Justice Department named him as an unindicted co-conspirator, which means he was involved in a criminal conspiracy but was not indicted for his involvement. Also, Congress declined to bring Rep. Murth before the ethics committee. My issue with him is he obviously was interested in doing biz with the "Arabs," but he would have done it on a much sneakier level, with bank transfers, etc.

I personally think that Murtha gets really uncomfortable at certain points in the video, like whenever the undercover agents start talking and trying to make clear that they want to bribe him. It's as if Murtha is questioning himself: "Is this legal or not?" To me, Murtha just seems like a man whom is unsure about what's going on. I don't know if that makes him corrupt or not.

LOL, it'd be a hoot if it came out years from now that he somehow had advance knowledge that this was a sting all along...

I considered the possibility that Murtha may have suspected that he was being set up, and that's why he never actually took the money.

It plays like a scene from a Martin Scorsese movie.
