  • Lowering the IQ of children in the USA. That should not be a problem. China will endorse it.

  • Thanks for the comment. If you note, the video was done 6 months ago and the actions in New York are very much a result of Crain's advocacy and the leadership of the Public Advocate's Office in NYC. There will be an unpdate soon at this site -- Pimento3 -- about Crain and Zhang's latest findings regarding lead absorption rates(see the November/December issue of the Journal of Exposure Science and Environmental Epidemiology). This is an unfolding story. Thanks for the comment.

  • Wrong - NYC Parks is ripping out turf fields in Harlem for unsafe lead levels. Installed in 2003. Look it up.

  • THE MUSIC AAAAAAGH

  • New York City did conduct testing on artificial turf and determined that there was not sufficient scientific evidence to support a moratorium on artificial turf installations. Artificial grass can provide a great number of environmental benefits. There will always be a natural world and the use of artificial grass for fields, parks, playgrounds, or lawns will not cause the natural world to cease. Also, crumb rubber is only one type of infill. Many fields use sand or other materials as infill.

  • Blimey! This is really good. Nice shots of Westmount Park, a good presenter, good graphics. What I would have liked to hear is why the Canadians and their southern neighbours want to rip up grass in their parks, and replace it with tyres. Is it much cheaper to maintain than normal, boring old grass.

Here in Amsterdam, Netherlands, where this writer resides, no such defacement would ever be contemplated. Mind you, we have a solution to the cost of maintaining grass: we smoke it.
