star trek was PHENOMINAL.
it goes beyond anything that rick berman and branon braga could have ever imagined.
jj abrams took what was essentially a dead franchise and breathed NEW LIFE into it.
the movie is actually DARK KNIGHT good.
yes its that well done.
at 2 hours the movie zips along at a breakneck pace and left people laughing, crying and cheering during the end credits.
the decision for Abrams to NOT listen to trek geeks and their technobable bullshit paid off.
star trek is GREAT.

Its not a reboot. SPOILER It's sort of a prequel and sequel. Spock destroyed Romulus, this spock lived all the events of the show and previous films. Nero went back in time to destroy Vulcan to get revenge on spock. This completely altered the timeline of the future. This explains why his mom died in the movie, but why she was still alive on the show. Old Spock also said that kirk's dad originally lived to see him grow up, but the Romulans killed him altering the future.
