I wish the talkers had been SILENT so I could have enjoyed the music!

I had the privilege of meeting Mr. Carter back in 1967, where he played the Hammond organ for a Los Angeles Blades hockey game. I was 15, a theatre organ buff even then, and he was gracious to his young fan.

Anyone know the name of the Charle Chaplin movie shown in the background when Gaylord Carter plays? It looks like Ben Turpin throwing pies. Thank you in advance.

I have the privilege of having the late Gaylord Carter once visit me to play the small pipe organ I designed when he was dedicating the WurliTzer 260 Special I had helped to restore at Emery Theatre in Cincinnati between 1974-1982. He said "how sweet!". The small organ is now at the Music Department at the college where I have been employed since 1989 as engineer of their TV Department.

The name Gaylord is the Anglicized version of the Old French name Gaillard, and its meaning is "lively, high-spirited". This certainly describes Gaylord Carter to those who knew him. Variations of the name Gaylord are: Gaillard, Gallard, Galliard, Gay, Gayelord, Gayler and Gaylor. Gaylord is also a very common surname.
