I wouldn't actually class 'Groundhog Day' as a Romantic Comedy, not in the traditional sense. It is a comedy with elements of romance; the romance is secondary to the comedy... It's actually tertiary if you include the redemptive theme. Perhaps because of the film's premise, and maybe even Andie McDowell's obvious inadequacies as an actress, their relationship simply doesn't evolve; it's presented in a series of reinterpreted vignettes. 'Chasing Amy' is the best thing Kevin Smith ever did,
