Not all these planes are wasting away. The ones with the red engine covers and the ones with tow bars on them are in what I guess you would call stand-by mode. The US has them. Some of our older jets are kept in the dessert where corrosion is almost no problem at all. All the fluids are replaced with special fluids, and the plane gets sealed up. If we were to get into a full scale all out war, all they would have to do is put the right fluids back in, and go to town.

Shame to see so many respected military aircraft left to the weather. If some were brought to the US for air museums,they'd be prized pieces,restored and well cared for.
