The title is pretty self explanatory I think.

  • Lol just checked on this video for the first time in a long time. Gotta say some of you fiber techs take what you do entirely too seriously. Firstly I recorded this after I had all of about 2 weeks of fiber experience (self taught).

  • Secondly the video was originally recorded just to show a few friends what I was doing as an additional function to my job ( I was actually primarily a network admin/engineer but learned this stuff since it was relevant to this particular job). Hence not proper lingo or ultra fast speed.

  • Who is manufacturer of this cable?

  • @userofthisfuckinsite Its Draka. You can see he spool in the background on the back of the green pickup in the second half of the video.

  • Thanks for the video! You did a fantastic job and it was very informative!

  • The fiber tech appears to be a "rookie" but he gave a decent presentation of a prep. Although this vid is 2 years old it needs a little clarification.

First, Cut your buddy not your body. NEVER use a razor blade and draw it towards yourself.

    The lingo -

    It's not a string...it's a ripcord

    It's not plastic...it's a jacket

    The white stuff...it's called Dacron

    It's not a can...it's a pedestal

They are not called plastic tubes...they're called buffer tubes

    Fiber thingys...those are called "tails"

  • try pulling both of thye rip cords instead of one. comes off much easier. one day you'll do that and pull the buffer tubes then kink one and brake some fiber. also, dont open the cable so far down. open just enough cable that you need to use. then coil the rest in the pedestal.

  • fiber optics is coming to my small town in Vermont! yay, I can not wait.

  • i want to work with u

  • you suck..... have you cut yourself yet or broke any fiber.

  • Go to walmart and get a seam slitter saves alot of time but they dont last long there only 2 bucks. Get used yo using a Knife instead of those cable sliters . Dont use a wire stripper to remove the buffer tube use a buffer tube stripper or a cat5 stripper and you can pull at least 1.5 feet of buffer tube off with out putting alot of stress on the fiber.

  • My company's tight, so I never have had so much 'slack' ! C'mon! he' got like 4M of slack!

  • In the forest, green boxes like those are an eyesore.

  • Please it helps me with your Conosimiento him put subtitles to your viedos grasias fer from Nicaragua
