Here I show how a mare in heat changes herd behavior and how being aware of this helps you understand horses better. In this video a mare comes up to me, flirts, nips and then presents herself to me, telling me she recognized me as the high horse and leader in the pasture. Also another gelding (probably proud cut) tries to mount the lead mare and the a higher gelding shows dominance and charges and disciplines the lower the gelding for trying to breed without "high horse breeding rights".

  • Is it safe to ride mare in heat. Had a more difficult time with her, hard to control.

  • lol

  • @emsy394 no hes a gelding. from the blm. he might be proud cut

  • Oh I remember when I was volunteering at a stables and a mare was in heat and the poor thing was set in a pen with some geldings and only one other mare. The geldings kept trying to mount her but the other mae kept biting at them and I kept breaking them up since the poor thing just a had a days work done. But it was almost funny the fact one of the geldings was half her size but trying the hardest, haha.

  • Is Tanner a Stallion?

  • Great narration there... The Young and the Restless for Horses :)

  • lol, we had a mare in heat out with a 33 year old gelding, and that old sucker tried to mount her and fell over. It was too funny, and her origional "mate" a 6 year old gelding was farther out in the pasture came running up there and we had to move that poor old guy since he was trying to pick fights and mount all the other horses!

  • AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!

this video is so cute :D
