2 versions of the Franklin Bruno song "Masonic Eye", first by Franklin's band Nothing Painted Blue, then one by Jenny Toomey, from the album of F.B. covers "Tempting".

"placeholders album is a friggin' masterpiece"

I feel like a little school girl, scribbling in the margins of a poetic book of necromancy : 'so true'...

Only, I like some of their singles better than anything on this fine album. 'Control Freak' was in the mid-'90's some kind of peak of NPB's mastery, I've felt.

  • haha, i love that you have both versions here. the placeholders album is a friggin masterpiece. i picked up the toomey CD about a year ago in the bargain bin, its got some good stuff on there, this is one of my faves.

  • Also be sure to check out the early version of the song called Lifetime Seance on Ghost of a Rollercoaster.

  • @FungusMossGnosis Thanks for the extra material.

Fantastic. Unlike when I wrote that comment, I am sober now, and I can soberly vouch for the brilliance of 'Placeholders' and the 'Control Freak/Niacin' single.

'The Monte Carlo Method' is also a good, good album.

  • @megatherium01 I know. Right! Jenny Toomey in the bargin bin? What is this world coming to? Love Jenny Toomey's voice and her lyrical material. I'm with you, she's still pretty high up there (for me).

  • @FungusMossGnosis Thanks for the Placeholders album tip. A friend turned me on to Jenny Toomey which led to Franklin Bruno. This led to sampling some of his stuff and I fell. I enjoy listening to his lyrics. Thanks again.

  • @milowent Awww, why was the Toomey album in the bargain bin? That was one of my favorite albums in my teenage years, and it's still pretty high up there.
