Four Charged in Richmond, California Homecoming Gang Rape ABC News

This incident is not to be confused with the December 2008 gang rape of a 28-year old lesbian in Richmond, California. This one is horrible enough on its own. The 2008 rapists did it because the woman was "just a lesbian". These rapists acted because the victim was "just a girl".

I blame the passive acceptance of and desensitization to graphic violence brought about by video games and films for the fact the onlookers did not report this crime at all for two and a half hours.

Deepak Chopra calls the onlookers "emotionally retarded" and that holds for a lot of young Americans addicted to the virtual reality of video games and right-wing values of traditional sexism and male dominance:

The onlookers watched for the same reason Americans can't get free universal health care: indifference to the suffering of others.
