3D Archive: Historic 3D Stereograms from the Alexander Library in Perth WA These 3D pictures were discovered in the Battye Library picture archive by David Carson and Brian McCLave in 1996 when researching the Kalgoorlie Mine Project. They were all mixed in with other photographs and not sequenced as stereo images. Now they are all collected together and erroneously labelled stereoscopes! Back in 1996 some of these images were included in a 3D video presented at the Diggers and Dealers conference at the Goldfields Art Gallery and subsequently included in our first 3D video installation Geoderma, which toured Australia from 1997- 2000.
This current video sequence was shown at the opening of the new outdoor LED screen in the Northbridge Piazza on October 29, opened by the Lord Mayor of Perth. The images have been restored by photographer Jon Davison. 3D conversion and video by David Carson and John Reed (WA3D)
