Democratic Representative Alan Grayson is correct in his statements in that the results of the policies that Republicans would put forth would make someone who gets sick want to or hope to die quickly lest they possibly leave their families in debt or bankrupt. His statements were crude but sometimes shock and awe is necessary to give the opposition pause to realize that the moral side can get rough to defend that which is moral.
let everyone else know how u did it because unless u are on Medicare or SSI Medicaid u are in debt up to your eyeballs or u r wealthy..I am sure the uninsured poor people that the hospitals in LA put in a cab and have em dropped off in skid row in a hospital gown would like to know

health insurance is a scam it makes a profit on denying care to people needing care...if we had a real health care system there would be no insurance companies and those huge profits would go toward health care not CEO bonuses and stock options

The few percent included things like defensive medicine. Doctors tend to order extra tests for other reasons. One is the perverse incentives that many of them see. They have an interest in the lab etc. Since they are paid per service and not just to keep you healthy, the more they do the more they get paid.

I agree go after the insurance companies, as for tort reform there may only be a few %, but what is the cost of the doctors using defencive medicine so they dont get sued, that is part of tort reform not just law suits

Under Bush-II there was a study done to see how much extra was being spent because of lawyers. The number came up to only a few percent even though this study was done by folks who absolutely hate lawyers. It isn't the big problem that people seem to think. Insurance companies add about 25% to the cost of health care. This is an amount really worth going after.
The extra paper work needed because no two insurance companies use the same code is also worth going after. It would be easy.

If they die in this country because of lack of health care they are idiots and dont deserve to live. I, in the past have had 4 major surgeries and lived with a cronic disease without a stich of insurance. I got help from the government to pay for it, so lets not pretend there is no public option now. We need insurance reform and tort reform to help costs. Problem right is in bed with insurance co. and the left is in bed with lawyers leaving us the citizens fu@#ed.
