United Irishman Thomas Russell (The man from God knows where). 'An if he didn't speak well none of us spoke, and we sat till the fire burned low'. I always wondered where my 'oul lad got this saying from.

  • I LOVE IRELAND..

  • This is a mighty recitation of Wilson's poem. It makes me wish I were Irish. That's a major compliment. I love it. I truly love it.

"I knew the set and I knew the walk." Goosebumps all the way.

    Best,

    Mike

  • @lreland1 Don't know if you ever found it but Tommy Makem's rendition of The Man From God Knows Where is on a double CD set that came out recently called The Legendary Tommy Makem. It's also on a CD of poems he recorded called Ancient Pulsing. I recommend everyone hear this version.

  • This youtube is not very reliable when you try to post something.Went to try and see the brave mans grave the other day in Downpatrick. It was in the cemetry down the street from the jail. But i could not find it.Down district council or NI tourist board take note and please do it up with permission from the Parish Church.
