LWT comedy sketch show from 1980, spoofing television personalities and programmes of the day. It has a similar style of humour to other comedy series such as Monty Python's Flying Circus.

Stars Sue Holderness (before she became famous as "Marlene" in Only Fools and Horses), Fred Harris (from Play School), Denise Coffey (from Do Not Adjust Your Set), Tony Aitken, David Simeon and Dudley Stevens.

It was written by David Renwick and Andrew Marshall, who also wrote the Radio 4 sketch series The Burkiss Way and sketches for Not the Nine O'Clock News.

Directed by Geoffrey Sax (later directed the movie White Noise) and produced by Humphrey Barclay (also produced Do Not Adjust Your Set).

It was originally shown on a Sunday afternoon next to children's programmes, has never been released on video and is now mostly forgotten. (This video will be removed from Youtube if either it is released on DVD, or if I am contacted directly by LWT requesting such an action be taken).

Broadcast date: 23rd November 1980 on London Weekend Television. Episode 14 of 14 (the last episode of the 2nd series).

SPOILERS: Includes parodies of: To The Manor Born, The Master Game, William Shakespeare, The Old Grey Whistle Test

  • I was beginning to wonder if I was the only person who remembered this series! It was very popular in the playground at the time and I seem to remember the show ended because the cast wanted a later time-slot, but ITV wouldn't give them it. This was actually the first programme I ever saw on a VCR (at my auntie's around 1980)! Any idea which is the episode parodying The Hardy Boys, retitled The Nancy Boys? That''s the one that sticks in the memory. Thanks for uploading.

  • @victorialucas38 The sketch with "Nancy Boys Hardy Drew Mysteries" is in episode 9, see my other videos!

  • @filmnet Cheers! I'll check it out.

  • I always liked the writers work on the Alexi Sayle shows. I like silly humour!

  • I've waited years to see this series again. Many thanks for posting.
