they used 6 gallons which is more then double of 10L. still wont take long for the temp to rise. i guess you'll need a radiator if you wanna do this.

Assuming 10L of oil and 250 watts, you're heating up the aquarium by 1C every minute. So within 30 minutes it's going to be a problem, not several weeks.

I many not be the smartest person when it comes to PC's, but I know my basic science. Water takes a lot longer to heat up than mineral oil. You can easily look this up by checking their respective heat capacities [water- 4.19 kJ/(kg K); mineral oil- 1.67 kJ/(kg K)], making your reasoning completely backwards.

I did the same thing except I cut out 2 hole in the tank to make a liquid cooling system through the fridge. The pump is solar powered and the computer is right accross the wall from the fridge. Took me a week to make but its worth it (it makes bubbles ^^)

No regular tap water wouldnt work dude. Unless you use distilled. But that even would become quickly conductive due to impurities in the tank same is true for so called "non conductive liquids"

Actually, distilled water becomes conductive because it absorbs CO2 from the atmosphere which turns into carbolic acid which then conducts electricity.
