I seem to remember watching the telly on the day. There was a brief shot of GW in a break then absolutely no more info about the race at all. I only found out he had won when I went on the clubrun the next day. How times change.

Still Britains reigning mens world road race champion! 42 years on!

beryl was world road race champ in 1960 & 1967,she won 5 world pursuit titles and was on podium every year from 1959-1973,the time trial was not introduced till 1990s or she would have added many, many world titles to her palmares.
no olympics then for women either!.

beryl was worlld pursuit champion too dont forget!,she had many good battles with yvonne reynders on track.
if time trial had been introduced earlier she would have had a bagfull of those too!,but butrton & hoy are undisputed top of the tree, the ones to beat, multi discipline world champs!.
Thank you for uploading this! A fantastic clip and amazing bit of cycling history.

when graham won world title was he a member of solihull cc,or birmingham rcc?.
he rode for both clubs before moving to holland.

In 1966 I left the Solihull C C because I was penniless and this very rich club did little or nothing to help me yet they were very quick to gloat about my success in racing. I then joined the new Tommy Godwin club, Birmingham RCC, because Tommy had helped me with travelling and equipment. But when I won my world title I was riding for a Dutch club in Hilversum, 'De Adelaar', (The Eagle).

irishgremlin, you are completely missing it aren't you?.

There is no comparason, Beryl was a world road champion and one world road title is worth a dozen track titles. Beryl was the greatest racing cyclist ever, male or female.
