**Update May 2009** I've started an All-Sumo channel - so head over to http://www.youtube.com/jasonsinjapan for lots of current sumo action!

About one minute into this video I start speaking, so it's not just me filming my TV.
I'm a huge, HUGE sumo fan, so I watch sumo every other month for two-weeks straight.
I'm also a big Asashoryu fan, but my favorite rikishi (wrestler) is Ama.

If you want to see more sumo stuff on the net, check out:
http://www.banzuke.com/
a good site for watching short clips of Sumo from recent tournaments
http://www.sumotalk.com/
good sumo info and discussion in English for gaijin otaku like me :)

Enjoy!

  • Does anyone know how i can get NHK coverage of the sumo basho's in english, in england????

  • I'll have some coverage on my all-Sumo channel here on YT - JasonsinJapan

but other than that, try other YT channels and/or the streaming vid on the sumo.goo site (which is slow) or look around for TV Japan cable channel in the UK

  • Asa is very good guy, when he visited in Mongolia in summer 2007, I met with him right before he went to football match which made him suspended, I was working as a reception in one tourist camp. He seems very aggressive on the TV but in a real life he was just like a innocent little boy

  • yeah - he seems like a pretty cheerful guy out of the ring. I'm really happy he won the March tournament in Osaka.

  • I am a fan of Asa. Smart video given that there are not any website which shows recent sumo wrestling events as Banzuke is no longer updating itself. Thanks for posting this.

  • yeah - I'm disappointed that Banzuke is no longer updating. :(

Some days I can't get home from school in time to see that day's matches. So I have to watch the highlights on the news.

I'll be posting plenty of stuff from the Osaka bashou which starts today.

  • monglian boys

  • 好, I like dat!

  • I love how Sumô is actually a major posing event, how they get in position, get up again, throw salt, get back in position, stare at each other, and so on...

Well, Asashôryû can't win every single time. :-)

  • I don't know where you can get them live/same day, but my link in the description box for the site called banzuke usually updates the current tournament within a day or so.
