Rep. Hoekstra: Holding 9/11 Trials in NYC "Ideology Run Wild"

On "Face The Nation," Rep. Pete Hoekstra (R-MI) tells Bob Schieffer that the Obama administration to try 9/11 terrorists in New York City not only "a bad idea" but "a platform to push their ideology."

"This is ideology run wild," Hoekstra says. "We're now going to rip that wound wide open, and it's going to stay open for [up to] four years" in what he predicts would be "a circus of a trial."

Hoekstra also ponders what problems President Obama would be solving by not only moving the 9/11 trials to New York City, but moving Guantanamo prisoners to states like Michigan.

@BootsMegamix Perhaps someone else brought this up, but if he were tried in a civilian court-perhaps one day and then would be set free. Never had a problem on the so called "torture" where the mistakes made besides lower enlisted handeling much of this andpictures-well tryong to have a normal trial-everythiung would be thrown out and nocase

I really think that Hoekstra's opening statements are pretty disingenuous. No matter what, the 9/11 trial will be highly publicized and the wound will be reopened anyway and also doesn't consider that some, maybe even most, NYers would love to see justice nearly a decade in the making. Not to mention he's not even from NY and to speak for them from Michigan is pompous.

Michigan and every other state contributes to Florida to rebuild after hurricaines and the economy is still not well. I too have family that were members of the Ironworkers in the early days.
