Seriously, there are too many racist comments here. Look, I'm asian. Guess what? It's true. Our parents force us to work hard and all. It may be tough, but we do have leisure time you know. Besides, you may hate it now but in the future , you realize that all the stuff you were forced to learn can help.
I know it did for me. My mom forced me to practice scales for hours on end. Every day. I hated it, but I hafta admit it helped me make my fingers more flexible and play the piano better.

*look for those of u hating on strict asian parents i have to say i wish my parents made me take piano lessons when i was young, now all i do is look at youtube videos and wish i played the piano or i wish my parents pressed me more on education or learning another language instead of watching tv and eating junk food all day, if so then maybe i would now have fulfilling career instead of a crappy dead end job. i mean is it any wonder our country, economy and educational system is in the trash?

Can you imagine how cool it must have been when pianos first started appearing at house parties in the early 1700's? That's like someone bringing a space ship over to your house in this day and age.

Who doesn't like feeling like you're actually truly good at something?? if it takes hours of practice, then let it so. if they can stand it, kudos to them because not everyone has the patience or the will to become really good at something!

I am obviously not referring to those who speak in a 'joking manner', but those who criticize Asian parents and degrade them for 'forcing their children to learn things'
Furthermore, I don't agree with your opinion on people who 'lack self discipline'. No one is perfect, therefore they will always wish that they could do better. They will always think that they could have done better. Wishing that they had 'practiced more' doesn't mean they lack self discipline.

I'm sorry but you sound stupid to me... those people aren't racists, they just have an extremely boring and repetitive type of humour. It's the same people you see making dislike jokes, arrow in knee jokes, etc. etc....
It's obviously meant as a joke; "asians...so good at everything". Maybe 1 in 100 is more than so, but who cares
Also people lacking self discipline, as in goal reaching, will do these jokes in a kind of "Sigh, I wish had/was practicing more!"
