The night of August 24, 1572, is known as the Massacre of St. Bartholomew. In France a religious war is raging. In order to impose peace a forced wedding is arranged between Margot de Valois, sister of the immature Catholic King Charles IX, and the Hugenot King Henri of Navarre. Catherine of Medici maintains her behind-the-scenes power by ordering assaults, poisonings, and instigations to incest.

    Parce que si tous les films se ressemblaient on s'ennuierait très vite !! de la diversité nait la richesse !! Excellent film, magnifiquement mis en scène et interprété et qui, enfin ! rend justice à "la reine Margot" qui n'était pas que "légère", mais aussi intelligente et généreuse qui fut toujours un soutien pour Henri IV (bien qu'il l'ait répudiée) et dont les Mémoires méritent d'être lues.

    Aujourd'hui 24.08.2012 = 480 ans après le massacre des protestants, il reste dans quelques mémoires !!

    Excellent movie. Excellent actress. The actress is half French, half Algerian Berbere! Excellent Actors! J'adore! At least, the productors did not change the original story and they tried to get as close as possible ... what american can NOT do: Create guenine movie, not superficial!
